Greater effort needed on personal data privacy
Hong Kong hit with carelessness of data privacy

In just 14 days, leaks of confidential personal details stored on purportedly secure databases has sprung up, involving Department of Health, the Hospital Authority, HSBC and the latest one, the Department of Immigration.  

It is in the opinion that to ensure these leaks and losses do not repeat, these agencies and company should educate data users and make them aware of their obligations under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

The government should allocate resources to step up use- education, verify personal data policies and practices and make on-site compliance inspections.
